Make Your Mark on the World!
We all want to make our mark in the world. What better way to start than with a simple dot!
In Peter Reynold’s children’s picture book “The Dot” the main character, Vashti, dislikes art because she is convinced, she can’t draw. There are lots of people in the world who feel this way. Sometimes we just need to build a little confidence in drawing and start with a mark.
In the book, Vashti’s teacher encourages her to begin with a single dot. From this single dot Vashti’s creativity takes off. This is a wonderful story that celebrates the creative spirit in everyone.!
Each year, on September 15-ish, students and adults all over the world celebrate International Dot Day with different drawing and reading activities that bring out their creative ideas. So let’s build some confidence with drawing in YOU!
Whether you feel like Vashti or you’ve been drawing for years, this activity is for everyone.
We’ll start by drawing a simple dot and from there, you’ll see all the incredible things that you’ll be able to create. Join us and start your creative journey with a single dot. You’ll walk away prepared to leave your mark on the world!
